I added an update post to this page last week and now it seems to have disappeared! Ahh.. technology, wonderful when it works and so frustrating when it does not!
So... here we go again!
Our classroom Valentine's Day party is this Friday, February 13 from 2-3:15. We will be making a container to gather our Valentine cards in on Thursday, however, I have told the children if they feel strongly about creating some type of container at home they are welcome to do so.
We are embarking on a busy time of year here in fourth grade! As you know we have begun our study of Michigan Lighthouses. This unit is much anticipated by our fourth grade students each year. As of late last week your child has randomly selected a Michigan lighthouse. They have had an opportunity to do a bit of research during our computer lab time with more to come. Your child brought home a letter detailing the support we will need from home in terms of materials for buidling our lighthouse models. The beauty of this project is that we use recyclable materials to create realistic models! You will be amazed at the talent our fourth graders possess!
Each child needs to bring in an empty, clean Pringle's potato chip can. It is important to also have the lid as this component will hold the electrical circuit in place that the children will build. Small cardboard boxes for use as building materials for houses and other "out buildings" will be necessary as well. Clear, domed lids such as those you may get at Dairy Queen or 7-Eleven are perfect for the tops of the towers.
The many components of our Lighthouse Unit will be on display during our Spring Celebration of Thinking on March 19, 2015.
.
Coming Soon:
Valentine's Day Party Friday 2/13 2-3:15
Mid-winter Break 2/16-2/17
Bemis Thining Showcase 3/19
